What is Soft Pressure Washing?

First off, let’s clear up the difference between soft washing and pressure washing. While pressure washing uses high-pressure water to blast away dirt and grime, soft washing uses a low-pressure water stream combined with specialized cleaning solutions to gently remove dirt, moss, algae, and stains. The key is the cleaning solution—it’s powerful but gentle on your surfaces and surrounding plants.

At the heart of soft washing is 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite (SH)—a form of bleach that’s great for killing off organic growth like algae, moss, and lichen. To make sure it sticks to surfaces and does its job, we also add a surfactant (soap).

Why Choose Soft Washing?

So why not just use a pressure washer? While pressure washing is great for certain jobs (like cleaning driveways), it’s not ideal for delicate surfaces like siding or roofs. High-pressure water can actually damage softer materials, pushing water into cracks and causing leaks. Soft washing, on the other hand, is safe and effective—getting your home clean without the risk of harm.

Our Soft Washing Process: Step by Step

Now let’s get into how we do it! Here’s a breakdown of the exact process we use to clean your home’s siding:

  1. Protecting the plants: Before we even touch the house, we make sure to protect your plants. We wet down all the nearby greenery (trees, grass, shrubs) so they’re safe from the bleach solution.

  2. Wetting the surface: We then wet down the siding to ensure even application of the cleaning solution and to help the solution stick better.

  3. Mixing up the magic: We prepare our cleaning solution by mixing 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite (SH) with a bit of surfactant. The SH is strong enough to tackle algae and moss, while the surfactant helps it stay in place longer.

  4. Applying the solution: Using a pressure washer with an X-Jet attachment, we spray the solution across the siding. The X-Jet allows us to adjust the concentration (we use a beige adapter), ensuring the right mix of SH for safe and effective cleaning.

  5. Let it work: After applying the solution, we give it about 5 minutes to work. We keep a close eye on everything during this time to make sure the process is working as it should.

  6. Rinse & Repeat (if necessary): After the waiting period, we rinse the siding with water, washing away all the organic growth. Sometimes, we might need to go back over certain areas to agitate and reapply the solution—especially if there’s stubborn growth that didn’t get cleaned the first time.

  7. Final rinse & plant protection: Once the siding is clean, we finish up by rinsing all your plants and greenery one more time, ensuring nothing’s harmed during the cleaning process.
